I LOVE to dance! Back in high school it was my life. Actually that's pretty much all I really remember about my high school years were the hours and hours of practice, and.....loving every minute of it with my friends! I can still remember those 6:00 A.M practices in the middle of winter in Utah. My dad would be up early with me after a fresh snow fall digging my car out and getting it ready for me to drive to drill practice.
Last week I flew home to Utah to honor my dance instructor Bonnie Pierce, one of the most influential women in my life. She has been at Viewmont high school for more than 25 years, since I was a little girl. In fact, my oldest sister was on her drill team many years before me.
This year she is retiring. So as part of her annual dance concert she invited her alumni back for a reunion, and whoever dare to dust off the old dance shoes and perform. At first there was NO WAY I was going to get backup on stage to perform after 15 years, but after much coaxing from my friends, who put the dance on youtube for those of us out of state to learn, and two VERY excited daughters, I decided to dance. We had a BLAST!! Susan, one of my extremely talented friends, choreographed the dance to Lady GaGa's "Just Dance". It was fantastic and so amazing to be back up on the same stage one last time with so many of my dear friends doing what we loved to do best! It felt good to be a Viewmont Vykelle again, even if it was just for the weekend! :))
Susan and I were Bonnie's President and Vice President our Senior year
